Gut Health and Emotions

~The health of your gut can effect your emotions and mood~

Do you ever feel like you are not yourself? Do you feel down when you know you should feel good? Do you have negative thoughts much of the time but don’t want to have these thoughts? Do you feel anxious over things but don’t know how to control it? Are you feeling these things, feeling embarrassed about it and do not know what to do?

These are just some of the things that people feel every day yet they have no idea why they feel this way and do not know what to do. Many are told to take a simple pill and everything will be ok. A pill that alters your thoughts and then creates side effects in which you need another pill for. What if I told you that there is another way to heal your thoughts and emotions with food?! Sounds crazy right? Well, you can heal yourself! Without medication, which I’ve heard way too many times referred to as “the happy pill”! These pills are not “happy pills”, they are altering pills that do not get to the root cause of why you are feeling this way. The goal should be on the least amount of any medication!

Our standard American diet is not good! There is no argument there! It has become the norm to eat quick, anything fast, foods that are packaged, food that you drive up to and throw in the car, and food with little or no nutritional value. Many find it rare to cook a home cooked meal from scratch! Fake processed food is not what our bodies were meant to ingest or process! When eating these foods regularly, not only do we become addicted to them, but they are destroying our guts, altering our hormones, and making us feel like crap! So why do people keep eating them??? Because we are addicted, tired and sick! Eating this way makes us feel happy for five minutes, then sets in the sadness, guilt, exhaustion, and negative emotions. Then you go to the Doctor who says “oh your feeling depressed, you need an antidepressant” NO! This is not the answer!

There is a gut brain connection, it is like the gut and brain are one. So when your gut is unhealthy, your emotions follow. When you eat food that is destroying your gut you are not going to feel good, and then the sad emotions follow. You start to think that there is something wrong with your brain, that you must just not be mentally well. This can be change! It is not a lost cause!

Food can heal the body!

Our gut has many parts to it, when the lining of the gut and the enzymes become altered, the gut can not absorb properly. The gut can actually breakdown, then certain nutrients that should be broken down before entering the bloodstream are escaping the gut before they should, causing havoc. When certain nutrients escape the gut lining before they are fully broken down, this is leaky gut. Leaky gut is the cause of so many symptoms. Bloating, constipation/diarrhea and weight gain can all be symptoms that you may feel. Then over time the sad and negative emotions start. This is when people start feeling lost, “why am I feeling this way?”, “am I ever going to feel myself again?”, “why is my doctor telling me my labs are fine and there is nothing wrong with me?”, “why do I have no energy?”.

There is so much that is happening at a cellular level when you are feeling this way. The emotions that you may be feeling may be because of a physiological reason, starting in the gut. There have been so many who heal their guts, and then their emotions start improving. Medication is not always the answer. We must heal our guts in order to feel our best. Who doesn’t want to feel their best?! I am here to tell you that it is not normal to just blow off how you are feeling as normal. If you are tired, sad, unmotivated, feeling depressed or anxious, you can be healed! Each and every person is different in how their body responds to food and how their body is breaking down certain foods and absorbing them. There is no quick fix, there is no magic pill, but there are practitioners that can walk you through the process. Unfortunately in today’s world, we are so busy and want things now! With healing your body, your gut, and your emotions, it takes some time. You didn’t get this way overnight, so you are not going to be healed overnight! It takes work! It takes dedication! You can do it though! Do you want to feel your best self? Do you want to have energy everyday? Do you want to lose weight, not feel bloated and feel healthy? Do you want to have those happy feelings everyday and feel positive? Then let’s get healing!
